Reiki is a hands on healing technique where universal energy transfers bringing balance to the chakra’s (“energy centers”) in the body.  Reiki is an ancient healing system that utilizes the “laying on of hands.”  The process involves the unseen, “life force energy” that can be transferred through a certified Reiki practitioner into the energy field of the person being treated.  Reiki and similar healing techniques can be traced back thousands of years to ancient Buddhist and Sanskrit texts.  Master Mikao Usui is credited with re-discovering Reiki and bringing the Reiki Lineage to the world.  He is believed to have been born in Japan in 1856 before he passed in 1926.  There is great debate of the accounts of his life and the Spiritual Awakening that helped to bring Reiki to us today.  The word Reiki is comprised of two Japanese words.  “Rei” is “God” source wisdom and “Ki” is life force energy.  Translated together it is “Spiritually Guided Universal Life Force Energy.  Reiki is a very simple, effective technique that anyone can learn and use.  Reiki is taught through an initiation or attunement process given by a certified Reiki Master. In traditional times at the origin of Reiki there were only a few Reiki Masters attuned.  It required dedication, commitment, and years of service, study and practice with the lower levels of Reiki before a Student was permitted to become Reiki Master.  In the modern era, there are many Reiki Masters around the world.  The traditional teachings and prerequisites continue to change and vary with the different Reiki Lineage’s and the many Masters that teach today.  The Reiki energy itself is constant and continues to change, merging with the collective consciousness of us as a species and with the changing energies of the planet and the universe as a whole.  I would urge you to pick your Master carefully and ask about their Lineage.  Ask about their daily practice and commitment to service in Reiki as this is an important aspect of embodying the teachings and becoming and effective teacher.  Reiki is not a religion and does not in any way replace the belief in “God”. This concept cannot be stressed enough because of many misconceptions out there in the general public.  Reiki is a spiritual practice of connecting with the wisdom “God” graces us with every day in every moment.  This beauty is everywhere; in our hearts, the land, the oceans, rivers, and in all living things.  Reiki supports our personal process of connecting with “God” and the life force energy with in each other and surrounds us at all times.  To become certified in Reiki there are three attunements.  Each involves a 21 day cleansing cycle as the energy integrates with your energy and physical body.  Students typically work with each attunement or level a minimum of 1 year and then apprentice an additional year with their Master to learn to teach and pass the attunement.  Once attuned to Level 1, a person can work on them selves regularly, on animals, family and friends but a fee cannot be charged for services during this time of personal learning, integration and reflection.  An equal exchange of energy is required when working with others since a fee is not charged.  With Level II the vibration rate of Reiki is doubled above that of level I and long distance healing treatments are learned.  In some Lineage’s secret-sacred symbols are introduced during this level.  Our original Lineage is “Raku-Kei Reiki”, my Master as We also teach introduces the symbols with the Master level.  The student with level II learns the process of long distance healing with out the use of Symbols.  The Symbols are from the beginning part of the Reiki student’s energy body and can be accessed with intent without the conscious knowledge of them.  A symbol itself in all realms has no power, it is the intent associated with the manifestation of calling upon the symbol that provides the basis and real power.  With level II once the learning process has shifted away from personal lessons to that of the people a Reiki practitioner is being asked to work with, then a fee can be charged.  Fees charged usually range from $50-$100 for a 1hour to 1 ½ hour session.  With the Reiki Master Level the vibration rate is raised ten times that of level II.  Anyone can learn Reiki but some may choose just to receive a treatment from a certified practitioner to assist with the innate ability to heal from with in.  The healing process always remains with the person who needs the healing.  The attunements are typically done is a 1-2 day work shop for each level.  Some Masters are teaching Level I & II or even III in one weekend.  I personally do not recommend this as it takes time to integrate the energies of the attunement and to learn lessons associated with each level regardless of other personal work a student may have previously done.  To become a Reiki Master in traditional times was $10,000 and required a commitment for life.  It was a great honor to be chosen by a Reiki Master who would grant permission for a Student to become a Reiki Master, only after many years of practice, training and integration with the lower levels and teachings of Reiki.  In today’s times that same amount of Money is comparable to $100,000.  The value of what is being received in the attunement process and for those gifted with the opportunity to become a Reiki Master cannot be under appreciated or misunderstood. Jeff was also attuned to Level I & II of Jikiden Reiki in 2018. Jikiden Reiki means ‘directly passed down’. It is pure and unchanged from the teachings of Dr. Chujiro Hayashi to Chiyoko Yamaguchi who preserved the system in Japan. I have great respect and appreciation for Master Usui, all the original Masters and my Reiki Master Teacher “Wendy Weatherwax ,Brenda Edwards & Starr Beauvais for sharing this ancient healing art with me and the world.  The beauty of this tradition awakens like a seed of light fed by the fire of your own commitment to getting closer to the wisdom of universal God source energy already in our hearts and everywhere around us.
